A good Grade GPA can help you get a good headstart in your career. It thus helps to track your grades early on with the use of a GPA Calculator.

This allows you to calculate your running, gives you an idea of how you are performing in high school (or college), and even lets you set the target grade points and have an impressive report card required for your dream course.

Even in college, you could continue using the GPA Calculator to compute your cumulative GPA or weighted GPA.

How can you Calculate a student’s GPA

ــــــــــ
If you have letter grades, which most high schools in the United States use, convert them first to the 4.0-grade points grading scale before using it in a GPA calculator. The table will help you convert a letter grade to grade points value:

A+ 4.0 C+ 2.3
A 4.0 C 2
A- 3.7 C- 1.7
B+ 3.3 D+ 1.3
B 3.2 D 1.0
B- 2.7 D- 0.7
F 0.0

Once you convert your grades, you need to determine the number of credits each course has. Generally, it is based on the number of hours you spend each week on the subject.

For example, if you take English for an hour twice a week, its course credits are 2.0. If unsure, it is best to check your curriculum to make accurate computations.

When you list all your credit hours, the next steps are to multiply the grade points you have with their respective credit and the product will be the total grade points for the semester. Now divide that number by the total credit hours, and you will get your GPA.

If you want to compute your cumulative GPA, you have to do this for all the subjects you have taken across all semesters. Do not average the GPA you compute for each semester, as you might have different credit hours per grading period.

With this calculator, GPA computing is easier. Furthermore, some GPA calculators also include a grades planning tool, which gives you information on what final exam you should target to maintain your target GPA for the remaining credits you have.

What Is a Good GPA to Maintain to Stay in College?

ــــــــــ

For some students, an average of 2.8 GPA per semester in your class should be good enough.
However, if graduate school or an honors program is your target, you should aim for a grade higher than 3.15.

Many employers, would consider graduates with a 3.0 GPA.
If you want to maintain a good GPA, you can use a GPA calculator to know the grade you need to maintain. With this calculator, GPA grade tracking takes out the tedious part of manually computing it.

What Grade Points Should I Have to Graduate with Honors?

ــــــــــ
Although the minimum grade requirement varies depending on the college, they typically require a minimum grade of at least a 3.5 GPA in your classes.
